About this forum
Truck Camper Owners Forum opened in June 2025 for people who carry a slide-in camper in a pickup bed. Hard-sides and pop-ups, 3/4 ton and 1 ton, single rear wheel and dually. The general RV boards treat truck campers like an afterthought, and the questions that matter to us (payload, tie-downs, how a 3,000 pound box behaves in a crosswind) get buried under travel trailer threads.
The forum is member run. Wes P., mod_wes_p on the boards, set it up and runs it. Wes spent 24 years in the Forest Service fleet shop in Missoula keeping engines and crew trucks running, and has carried a camper since 2003. These days it is a 2014 Lance 1050S on a 2016 F-350 single rear wheel, with a few hunting seasons on it. He reads the contact mailbox himself, slowly during elk season.
House rules
- Put your rig in every question: truck year and model, bed length, SRW or dually, camper year and model. Weight questions also need the payload number from the sticker on your driver's door.
- Post scale tickets when you have them. Brochure weights are a starting point, not an answer.
- Say what you paid in buying threads. Reports without numbers get a mod asking for them.
- No selling campers or trucks in threads. There is no classifieds board on purpose.
- If you install, sell, broker or ship campers for a living, say so once in your posts. Staff posing as owners get removed.
- Mods move posts to the right board and leave a note. Nothing gets deleted for being wrong.
What this is not
Not a dealer, not a shop and not a weight rating. When somebody here tells you your truck can carry a camper, the sticker on your door and the scale are still the final word. Torque numbers and tire pressures come from the manufacturer, not from a forum post.
